In partnership with PCL Construction, Doka is providing innovative formwork solutions to support the construction of Train 4—an advanced treatment train at the Alberta plant incorporating a state-of-the-art membrane bioreactor. This addition is designed to meet strict effluent standards and supply reusable water for industrial clients, furthering the community’s commitment to sustainable water management.

The expansion project presented significant operational challenges, including limited availability of skilled labor, constrained site space, and the need for seamless integration with existing structures. To overcome these complexities, Doka provided a suite of high-performance formwork and shoring systems tailored to the project’s unique requirements.

Key solutions included:
Framax S Xlife: Selected for its durability and suitability for large gang wall setups, enabling efficient assembly with minimal adjustments.
Doka Eurex 30 & Super Props: Provided stability and flexibility for reshoring throughout the construction process.
Staxo 100, Dokaflex S, Dokadek 30 & Dokamatic S Tables: Used to streamline shoring with quick setup times and high load capacities.
Custom Formwork Layouts: Doka collaborated with PCL to develop tailored formwork plans, ensuring optimal sequencing, component placement, and assembly efficiency.

“By combining our expertise in formwork technology with PCL’s construction capabilities, the Doka team delivered a highly efficient solution that met the project’s rigorous safety, quality, and timeline requirements,” said Gunnar Falke, CEO of Doka Canada. “This collaboration underscores our commitment to supporting our customers as well as infrastructure projects that drive sustainability and efficiency.”

With a total footprint of 100,000 square feet, the ARROW Utilities Train 4 expansion represents a critical investment in wastewater treatment infrastructure. Doka’s involvement in the project not only helped ensure its structural integrity but also improved productivity and safety throughout the construction process.
