With the Josef Umdasch Research Prize, the Umdasch Group has been supporting outstanding achievements in research and development since 1990. The prize is offered annually on a rotating basis by one of the three divisions of the Umdasch Group. Since 2018, it has been awarded in cooperation with the World Summit Awards.
The prize is aimed at start-ups, entrepreneurs and future-oriented thinkers around the world, who have the chance to submit innovative project ideas and solutions for specific topics. The finalists receive financial support of EUR 5,000 each for the detailed development of their idea and are invited to present their solution to a jury of experts. The pitch presentation and award ceremony take place during the World Summit Awards. The winner will have the opportunity to implement the idea together with Doka, umdasch The Store Makers or Umdasch Group Ventures and will thus benefit from collaboration with international experts.
More information on the current call for entries and on the previous years’ winners can be found here.
The prize is named after Josef Umdasch, the father of the current owners Hilde Umdasch and Alfred Umdasch, who initiated the prize. Today, the award is an integral part of the Umdasch Group Foundation, an initiative of the Umdasch Group that aims to encourage people in their education and to support initiatives that deal with the topics of education and knowledge transfer worldwide.
