The 824 megawatt hydroelectric generating facility is being constructed on the lower Churchill River, approximately 30km west of Happy Valley-Goose Bay. The facility will consist of a powerhouse with four turbines, three dam structures, six spillway piers, separation and retaining walls, north and south service bay becoming the second-largest hydroelectric facility in the province when complete.

The general contractor, Astaldi Canada, chose Doka as their partner to supply all formwork materials and services on the entire project. A complete formwork solution package including highly efficient products was a key requirement towards planning the successful construction of this project. Safety on site was another high customer requirement due to a zero tolerance policy on the site. To meet these customer requirements Doka provides a commitment to on-site training and supervision and maintains high safety standards build-into the design of all their formwork solutions.

Doka will also provide the pre-assembly of all formwork elements required on site, including Large Area Formwork Top 50, D22 Dam platforms, and custom curved formwork. Additional equipment in use on this project includes Framax Xlife Wall formwork, Load-bearing tower Staxo 100, Supporting Construction Frames, and Shaft Platforms. The entire project will take place over five years, with the formwork portion being completed in approximately a two year timeframe.
