Sports not only have an immense impact on your health, they also have a positive effect on well-being. Doka Saudi Arabia has acknowledged this and launched a three-month fitness challenge.
The challenge was enthusiastically accepted by the employees and started with an evaluation of the current fitness status of all participants. To keep motivation high, the team was provided with numerous health and lifestyle tips as well as healthy fruit snacks.
The biggest incentive, however, were the monthly updates on their personal health status, where everyone hoped to shine. Fitness trackers were used during the time spent together at the gym, on hikes, and on cycling and walking tours to document their training success.
“The hike was a wonderful experience where teamwork came first. I was also able to relieve stress and relax really well.”
As part of the Umdasch Group, we at Doka aim to not only be economically successful, but also fulfill our ecological and social responsibilities as well as our responsibility as an employer. Therefore, we regularly set impulses within and outside our company and drive international initiatives that make our common working and living environment more sustainable.
The successes achieved by the fitness challenge at Doka Saudi Arabia were impressive, not only in terms of burned calories and reduced body weight. Some Doka employees completed a half marathon together, which was organised in connection with the 91st Saudi National Day festivities. They ran an impressive 21.1 km and at the end, all those who reached the finish line received a certificate. But the employees of Doka Saudi Arabia were not the only ones striving for personal fitness.
Doka India staff working from home arranged to go on a 14 km hike to climb to the top of the Brahmagiri mountain range in the Western Ghats of Southern India. The breath-taking view was the greatest reward for this sporting adventure, along with a great experience among teammates.
“We had a mind blowing and fun filled trekking adventure on the way to the top of Brahmagiri Peak. At the end we were rewarded with a breath-taking view.”
The goal of the Fitness Challenge to improve health and well-being among the employees at Doka Saudi Arabia was achieved. And on top of that, the challenge offered a welcome change to the daily working routine and productivity at work increased.
The best thing, however, was how these shared activities reinforced everyone’s sense of team spirit, which is why they all agreed to continue the fitness challenge next year.
Doka and the Umdasch Group stand for sustainable development.
Therefore, we focus on initiatives in the sense of the "Sustainable Development Goals" of the United Nations.
