The product carbon footprint (PCF) measures the total greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) generated by a product across all its relevant material life cycle phases. The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), passed by the EU Parliament in 2022, will require most companies to calculate their greenhouse gas emissions on a broad basis. For us, the PCF is not an end goal, but a tool to identify CO2e hotspots throughout the entire product lifecycle. This involves using the right materials and reducing material consumption while maintaining the same load-bearing capacity. Our ultimate goal is to create inherently sustainable products that play a key role in achieving our net-zero emissions strategy by 2040.
