The Evergreen Line

Vancouver, BC, Canada

The Evergreen Line extension, along with its six new stations, will provide to the Province of British Columbia a much needed transportation method that would reduce automobile use and create an alternative to single occupancy vehicles for a neighborhood in Vancouver.

Challenge:

  • The project required extensive road reconfigurations, relocation of existing utilities, building at-grade and elevated guideways, construction of tunnels and stations; as well as installing train operating systems.
  • The general contractor needed a formwork solution that would meet strict safety regulations at the same time as meeting tight time constraints.

Solutions:

  • Doka’s Steel Girder Formwork was used in conjunction with 140 kip support brackets approximately 24 ft. above grade.
  • Assembly work was performed safely at ground level without relying on expensive crane time, keeping the productivity high and costs low.
