Slab Formwork at the Avidor Evanston Project

"For the parking levels’ double-sided sloping slabs, Concrete Structures used Dokaflex, a floor-slab formwork system with a flexible grid that is adaptable to any shape, layout and slab thickness. The contractor then switched to Superdek drop head slab formwork for the residential floors. Crews were able to install the handset system quickly and easily, enabling the contractor to work within a four-day cycle."

Chad Czerwinski, Superintendent

Doka Superdek - LakeHaus Uptown Minneapolis

"Adolfson & Peterson Construction found they needed a handset shoring solution due to the tower crane restraints. Superdek is a handset shoring system that can easily cycle from floor to floor with the drophead feature. With Doka’s bolt-on castor wheels, A&P can move equipment around the entire slab of the active deck."

What the experts have to say ...

"Building Concrete Solution’s formwork manager wanted to try out the new Superdek grid system from Doka. Superdek is a simple handset drop head slab formwork system with large grid / prop spacing - up to 8x8-feet. With interlocking joists and stringers, and a unique slab edge forming solution, it provided increased productivity with less labor and maximum safety. There was a maximum flexibility in standard lengths, faster production with less material, and the Superdek drop head allowed for early removal of joists and stringers for faster cycling to the next area."

Ivan Castillo, Formwork Engineering Manager

Superdek - The new Superhero in Concrete Slab Formwork

"Superdek is a simple handset drop head slab formwork system. Large grid / prop spacing, up to 8' x 8' interlocking joists and stringers and a unique slab edge forming solution will provide increased productivity with less labor and maximum safety."

Superdek debuts in Maryland

"The head design on Doka’s new Superdek systems has a huge safety advantage. By using a wedge and placing it diagonal to the beams, it is clear when the head is fully engaged for setting and easy to hit with a hammer when stripping."

Superdek overview

Stringer

Maximum flexibility
Superdek stringers in standard lengths of 8’-0”,6’-0”,5’-0”,4’-0” & 12’-0”

  • Safe - ergonomical installation from the ground below with only one person
  • Fast - lightweight high strength aluminum profile designed to maximize spans and increase productivity. Only 6.2 lbs/ft.
  • Performance - robust galvanized steel end caps bolted to each end, providing strength and durability on your construction site
  • Simple - designed for asymmetrical loading to provide flexible solutions for all jobsite conditions

Joists

Versatility on the jobsite
Superdek joist in standard lengths of
8’-0”,
6’-0”,5’-0” & 4’-0”

  • Safe - all joists can be set from ground below with one person, no ladders necessary
  • Fast - a specially designed lightweight wood core maximizes spacing and labor efficiencies. Only 3.5 lbs/ft.
  • Performance - robust galvanized steel end caps bolted to each end, providing strength and durability on your construction site

Drop Head

Faster production with less material
SuperDek drop head allows for early removal of joists and stringers for faster cycling to the next area

  • Safe - a visual indicator to ensure safe engagement of the wedge increases safety and speed
  • Fast - with only one hit of a hammer, the patented lowering wedge will drop the stringers and joists 4” for early removal
  • Performance - patented drop head locking plate locks the stringer and joists providing superior stability
  • Simple - fully symmetrical drop head allows for fast setting and an off center hitting point makes dropping the deck super-fast

Props

Setting the industry standard for floor props
Eurex 20/30, Doka prop SD, Superprop

  • Safe - all Eurex props are guaranteed to hold a consistent load capacity regardless of extension length
  • Highly Reliable - hot dipped galvanized corrosion free components ensure the tested capacities throughout the lifetime of the product
  • Fast - a special tread geometry makes the adjustment nut easy to turn, even under fully loaded conditions
  • Maximum Versatility - greatest adjustment range on the market for each prop, which leads to less jobsite inventory requirements

The right floor prop for the project means large grid dimensions, less shoring and re-shoring, less material handling, more square footage per truck and fewer crane picks.

NEW! Doka prop SD 350

Increased capacity, up to 13.5 kips, regardless of extension, with same lightweight design (only 53 lbs)

Setup of SuperDek

From first stable bay - erection can continue simultaneously in stringer and joist direction.

Erection of Stringer

From the ground below, hook stinger into drop head and hang at 60° angle. Stringer will safely hang from drop head by itself. Take next prop with pre-attached drop head, engage with stinger end and swing up.

erection of stringer

After pushing the beams in position, the steel shoe of the beam rests in the recess of the drop head securing it against tilting and providing additional stability.

Erection of Joist

From the ground below, hook joist into stringer and let hang at an angle. Use beam fork to push it up and move it sideways (to the left) past the opposite stringer. One person can safely install all joists, from the ground. No ladders or rolling scaffold necessary.

Erection of Perimeter Slab Edge

Safely form around the building perimeter from inside the building on the slab below. Superdek edge beam cantilevers from an interior stringer, allows the perimeter slab edge to be safely set from the ground below and maintains the drop head function of the Superdek system.
