The extension of Line 3 of the Madrid Metro to El Casar, managed by a consortium consisting of the companies Ossa, Azvi, and Cotodisa, is crucial for the Madrid community.
The construction project includes not only a new station but also pump and ventilation shafts as well as emergency exits. A key component of this project is the 2,700-meter-long mining tunnel, of which 1,400 meters were constructed using two modular tunnel formwork travellers equipped with Doka's versatile Heavy-duty supporting system SL-1.
The tunnel formwork traveller consists of the moduel and versatile Heavy-duty supporting system SL-1, equipped with SL-1 steel panels and additional transverse struts, eliminating the need for wall anchoring. This allowed for concrete pouring in daily cycles, and the transverse struts could be easily removed with a forklift after concreting, which facilitated the availability of the required drive-through opening again.

Solution
Integrated turntables ensure effortless and precise alignment of the formwork travellers, even in challenging curved areas. The operation of the 7.5-meter-long formwork traveller directly on concrete without rails significantly accelerates the construction process. Given the tight schedule, these technical innovations set critical benchmarks for the successful execution of the project.
Our collaboration with UTE METRO L3 has been marked by meticulous planning and execution. The use of Doka’s advanced formwork solutions has ensured rapid progress while maintaining the highest safety standards. The client has expressed satisfaction with our planning, timely delivery, and the overall quality of our solutions, highlighting the excellent value for money.
"The biggest challenge for us was ensuring the project met the high technical standards required while adhering to a tight schedule in an urban environment. We chose Doka for their innovative formwork solutions and their proven track record in delivering complex infrastructure projects. Their SL-1 system provided the robustness and flexibility we needed, and their team’s expertise was invaluable in overcoming the project’s challenges."
